the only problem is that you cant buy anything like this (for any reasonable price, <$800). you can vary the flow almost infinately just by varying the speed of the motor. one side pumps sparge water from HLT to mash, the other pumps wort from the mash to the boil kettle, automatically at the exact same rate. To the original question- the best way to equalize flow rates of sparge water and run off is with a dual head paristaltic pump. Ive yet to find even a "good" (inexpensive, food grade, better yet- sanitary) flow sensor. the simple fact that its nylon tells you nothing about its food-grade status. unless something is certified food grade, you have to assume it isnt. if there are any chemicals in the plastic that will leech out, high temperatures increase the rate of leeching exponentially. Just remember that being rated for 80*C only means it is physically capable of withstanding it. it has some good qualities (cheap, rated for pressure) but thats about it, i would hardly call it perfect. The factory settings of the device allowed plug-and-play installation.Meh, they arent rated for food, and impeller type flow sensors are impossible to clean, let alone sanitize after use, especially with unfiltered beer with yeast. Power is supplied by the charger via the common M12 connector that is part of the AF-E package. Given the hygienic environment of the end-user, hygienic EPDM was selected as wetted material for the gaskets in this application. The device was mounted with a G thread connecting it to a piping with hygienic clamp connection. PEEK does not only comply with hygienic requirements, but it is also more resilient against increased pressure. The KROHNE device comes with a robust hygienic cast stainless steel housing and was provided with a 1” PEEK flow tube and PEEK electrodes. With a light weight of less than 750 g, the mag meter is ideally suited for installation on the portable system. This makes the AF-E 400 so versatile as to be used for flow measurement of beer, cider or cleaning agents as well as to control CIP parameters like temperature. The flowmeter comes with multiple application and device data ranging from volume and total flow to medium temperature to various self-diagnostics such as low supply voltage or exceeding flow range. It features a high turn-down ratio and best-in-class accuracy in every flow range. This ultra-compact KROHNE flowmeter is designed for flow measurement of conductive liquids on mobile flow systems, dosing skids and other applications in industrial automation. Brewology decided on the AF-E 400 electromagneticįlowmeter.
